Boris

Boris is about 6-8 years old & was owned by a lady who abandoned him with her ex-boyfriend.  The boyfriend left Boris in a crate in the garage, I don’t even know if he got to go outside, I think he got left in there so long he would mess in the crate.  I don’t know how long he was there, but long enough to not trust many humans.  There was a nice couple that saved him from the boyfriend & had him for 2 days, so we’re the fourth home he’s had.  The behaviorist says Boris is acting out signs of abuse, so either the boyfriend abused the girlfriend or the dog or both!  Either way, poor Boris has no social skills from being left alone all the time.  He’s petrified of other dogs & will either bark & lunge at them if they get close to him, or try to hide behind me!  But now that he’s with Brian & me, his favorite pastime is either sleeping on our laps while we watch movies (preferably on his back so we can rub his tummy) or munching on a greenie while we play on the computers!  He goes to the park for walks & to meet other dogs & he even gets to go to work with me every day; although I’m still trying to convince him neither my bosses nor their dogs taste like chicken!!! He is rarely left alone & gets lots of love, even from the kitties!  He goes to the groomer every two weeks where he discovered a true love of bouncy Ikea balls!  He also pays weekly visits to the local pet store where they try every type of treat, to no avail. (He’s not food motivated, only likes chicken & cheese!)  He’s got his ears clean & is up to date on all his shots! He loves to ride in the car, go outside when it’s not raining, and follow me around.  He has the cutest little under bite & sometimes when his little teeth show, you can see the second row of teeth he has!!! J  He’s starting to play fetch, play with his toys & chomp on bones.  Almost like a real doggy!  Brian tussles with him & when he gets really excited he practically bounces off the walls! He’s the best, most patient dog; even letting me clean his ears daily & put in refrigerated drops twice daily (I hid the antibiotics in chicken!!).  We were a foster home for him, but on February 23rd, 2003, Boris became a wonderful and permanent addition to our home!
