This process must be followed, and we must receive both your application and the $10.00 application fee by mail for you to be considered as an adoptive family.  There are no shortcuts available for this process. We do NOT accept emailed applications.

There is also an adoption fee for each pug placed, due on adoption.  This fee helps pay a part of the medical expenses incurred for each dog.  We will discuss this fee in advance with you prior to adoption.

We have a tried and true application process that has been developed over many years of doing this work.  Each step is in place for a reason.  Those who refuse to follow the process will automatically be eliminated from consideration.

The past several months we at Seattle Pug Rescue have seen an increase in the number of pugs coming into Rescue due to problems in their home with children aged six and under.  Our contacts in Rescue across the United States have seen this same increase.

Although the Pug breed has a well deserved reputation for being good with

Children, Rescue dogs come with unknown life experiences that may make them unsuitable for homes with young children.  Many Pugs have poor eyesight up close, and a swift movement by a child can frighten the pug, which may in turn then snap or growl.  Although we have had no instances of a pug actually biting a child, it is a tragedy we wish to avoid.   We have reluctantly made the decision to no longer place Rescue Pugs in homes with children six years of age and under.

You may want to look for a puppy, to grow up with your children, rather than a pug from Rescue who may have had bad experience with children, and if so, we suggest you contact the Puget Sound Pug Dog Club, who will refer you to breeders in the area.

We appreciate your continued support of Seattle Pug Rescue and we will revisit this issue in several months

Please be aware that this is a volunteer organization, and it may take us several days to respond to your questions.  We will get back to you as quickly as possible.
