Junior is a wonderful 3 year old Boy who came to us with severe cataracts in both eyes.  UPDATE:  Junior has had one cataract removed and can see with that eye for the first time in a long time!  He is recovering nicely.  Despite his medical challenges, he has a wonderful temperament.  He really misses having his own family.

Junior has very good ‘pug form’ with his really curly tail and a little higher in the back end.  Junior likes to play, walk, and loves to sit on your lap, or anywhere that he can be close to you

Winnie Pooh   A fun loving, spirited girl

Winnie Pooh is a two-year-old female with lots of energy.  She is potty trained.  She loves to play tug a war with her puggy foster brother and is very sweet with all of her foster siblings, unless food is around.  She’s a bit of a diva and things that all food belongs to her and gets a little aggressive & piggy.  Her foster family can keep her under control with commands and strict routine.

She has lots of energy.... she would be a great little hiker.  Because of her food aggression, Winnie will be placed in a home without children.  The ideal family for her is one who is willing to follow the strict routine she needs or has no other dogs.

Are you looking for a dog who will easily fit into your life and reward you with lots of love?

If so, then Scooter is the pug for you!

He is a very sweet and mellow older guy who happens to be blind.  He's not your typical pug full of energy and always demanding your attention.  He just wants to lay at your feet or in his bed and be near his people.  He is fully housetrained, but needs help finding his way outside and back in again.  He loves to sleep in his bed while you are at work.

He knows several commands and he's great on a leash.  He loves his toys and treats.  He gets frightened easily because of his blindness, so he would do well in a home without small children.  He gets along great with cats.

Scooter is a Helping Hands dog!  This means SPR will cover all of his medical bills – forever!  Interested?  Contact Sherry or Cathy.

"Chewey"

Meet Chewey.  No, not the Wookiee of Star Wars fame, Han Solo's co-pilot.  This Chewey is a friendly and outgoing 5 year old male.  He is in good health and ready to be your dog co-pilot.

Otto

Six year old Otto is a very sweet dog, a bit on the sensitive side.  Otto enjoys being with other dogs and is the official greeter when a new dog comes to visit.  Otto came to SPR from a family with small children - and was very good around them according to his former owners.

Sidney

Hello mate.  My name is Sydney.  I'm a good looking and charming 4 year old boy.  I have been working on housetraining and obedience training and proving to be a good student.  I have been in a couple homes during my short life and have a luxated patella -  so would like a person who will take me to the park and let me hang out, has a home without lots of stairs that I have to climb, and will provide a nice place for me to sleep and remember to buy me chew bones.

Dutch

Dutch is a 6 year old male.  Sweet and outgoing.  Gets along with other pugs and same size dogs - but has an extreme dislike of bigger dogs and cats.  Dutch came into the rescue a little thin (an oddity for pugs) but is putting on weight and is otherwise is good health.

Butch

Butch is a happy go lucky, healthy 3 1/2 year old male.  He gets along with other dogs, with cats and loves children.  He does have one odd fetish - he like to nibble on fingers when visitors come to his house.  So make sure you have some treats handy when you come to visit Butch.

Here is the process:

Step 1: Send in an Adoption Application and the $10.00 application fee to begin the process.  We must receive the application and the application fee by mail to review your application.  At this time, we cannot receive or review e-mail or electronic versions of the application.  Please make sure you send a paper copy of the application in order to be considered for adoption.

Step 2: After we review and approve your application, we send your contact information to a volunteer who will contact you to schedule a homecheck.  This is an interview conducted by the volunteer in your home.  It is a chance for you to ask questions about rescue pugs, adoption, or SPR in general.  It is also an opportunity for us to make sure that you can provide a safe place for a rescue pug to live.  We schedule homechecks in the order that we receive applications, but we may give priority to families who wish to adopt a Helping Hands pug, one with severe medical conditions, or a pug that is difficult to place.

Step 3: After your homecheck, the volunteer will write a report that is submitted to SPR for review.  After your homecheck report is approved by SPR, your family will go on the list with other families who are waiting to adopt a pug from Seattle Pug Rescue.  We match each pug with the family that can meet the pug’s needs.  When there is more than one family that matches with a pug, we contact the families in the order that they received a homecheck.

Step 4: When we find the perfect pug for you, we’ll contact you to discuss the pug’s needs and his adoption fee.  If you want to adopt this pug, you will begin a two-week trial period where you can evaluate whether the pug is a good fit for your family.  We have resources that are available to help you to make this a successful adoption.  We will collect the Adoption Contract and the adoption fee when you pick up your rescue pug for the trial period.

Please be aware that this is a volunteer organization, and it may take us some time to respond to your questions.  We will get back to you as quickly as possible.  Thank you!

GOOGLY

Googly is a very well behaved, outgoing, and friendly 4yr. old male who thrives on human attention, but also enjoys the playful company of the other pug in his foster home.  He walks well on a leash, enjoys playing ball in the yard, and really loves chewing on Nylabones. Googly comes when called, sits on command and is learning how to wait at doorways and use the dog door in his foster home.  Cuddled up contently in a lap or  at your feet is where you will most likey find this little guy relaxing in the evening.

Frank

Cindy

Frank is 11 years old.  He is a sweet boy but is not terribly mobile, so needs a home without stairs.  Would be happy with a nice comfy bed and a person that would sit and watch Animal Planet with him.

Peggy & Maimee

Peggy & Maimie are both fawn females about 11 years old. They are in good health for their age, both are a bit arthritic and one is hard of hearing. They are both supposed to be housebroken, enjoy being around children, but have not been around other dogs or cats.  The couple that owned them, the wife recently passed and the husband was not able to properly care for them alone.  These grand pug ladies have been together a long time - so we would like to place them in a home together.

Lola

Carmen

Carmen is a lively 6 year old female.  She was surrendered with JJ.  In good health.  She has a square body, round head and large, dark eyes, with nice deep wrinkles - all part of the pug standard.  Carmen has a dignifed, yet playful and outgoing personality.

JJ is a self-assured handsome 4 year old male.  He was surrendered with Carmen.  He has the nice square pug frame, deep black coat, black velvety ears and nicely curled tail.  There are some premature gray hairs on the chin - that only make him more distinguished.

“JJ”

Snorta - Miss Snorta to strangers - is a 4  to 5 year old female.  She has lots of energy and loves being around people and other dogs.  Surrendered when her family had a new baby with extreme allergy issues.  Came in with Googly and Jasper - so accustomed to being around other dogs - older and younger. Snorta is a well behaved young lady who is eager to please her people.

Snorta

Coco

Coco is a very sweet 6 year old girl.  She likes to yodel when left alone - but with attention is a happy and quiet little lady.  She likes to be paired with at least two other dogs so would do best in a home with other dogs and where she is not left alone for long periods of time.

Lola is a 4 yr old female with a sweet cuddly and loving attitude.  How can you refuse a pretty face like that.

Note, Carmen & JJ are a package deal, they have been together  for most of their lives.

Mr. Big is a handsome 7 year old pug with a big heart.  But don't let his name fool you, he is not a really big pug.  He is very sweet when he's getting his way, or if he feels like doing what you want him to do, but he can  be a little stubborn.  He is a mellow pug,, but he does like to play with his toys.  He gets along with and enjoys being around the other dogs in his foster home.

Mr. Big knows basic commands to go outside, go to bed, up, and wait.  He sits to wait for his dinner, and waits to be invited on the sofa for snuggle time.  He LOVES to have his belly scratched and does the cute, head-cocked to the side look that most pugs give when there is a strange sound.   Mr. Big is very much his own man.  He will do best in a home with  no children.

Sampson

Sampson is a 2 yr old male. Sampson is a very sweet and loving pug with lots of energy but he also loves to cuddle. He gets along great with people and dogs and is having a wonderful time playing with his foster brother. Sampson is really good in his crate, and will go in there to relax sometimes. Sam is pretty well house trained and does not mark indoors but needs regular walks and control of his water intake not to have accidents.

Sampson is a wonderfully loving little guy looking for a family to love him.

Cindy is a 6 year old female who was shy when she first came into the rescue, but when given time and space to adjust, turned out to be a very sweet dog.

She is very nervous around children, especially if they move to quickly towards her.  So, may do best in a home without younger children.  She is well behaved, walks beautifully on a leash and is housetrained.  Cindy came in with some allergies that are easily controlled with proper diet and TLC.

Rocky is a 3-year-old male.  Since he's a youngster, he has lots of energy and loves to play with his doggie friends.  He likes to chew on his toys, and he's very affectionate to his people.  Rocky would do well in a home with lots of activity like walks and visits to the park so that he can use up some of his energy.  He would do well with older children and other dogs to play with.  Do you have a fun and active family?  If so, then Rocky will be a great pet for you -- he will love and be loved!

Spot is a 5 year old male that has recently gone blind from retinal degeneration.  Initially scared due to the blindness, he has adapted quickly and now Spot is even managing stairs on his own.  It is amazing how quickly animals adapt to handicaps like sudden blindness.  Spot gets along with other dogs, so long as they are not alphas or significantly larger dogs, as he can sense their size.  Spot has a long life to live and lots of love to give.  Do you have room in your heart and home for a dog that many people will pass over due to his handicap.
