2009: A Record-Breaking Year

In 2009, Seattle Pug Rescue took in and adopted out more pugs than any previous year. A total of 186 pugs came in to Seattle Pug Rescue. As of December 31, 2009, 148 pugs had been placed in new forever homes and 38 pugs remained in foster homes or under SPR's care, with 12 of those being pending adoptions.

Volunteers Make the Difference
We thank our volunteers for all of their hard work, time, and money spent during 2009 helping SPR rescue these pugs and then place them in new forever homes. SPR volunteers drive hundreds of miles each year, picking up pugs coming into rescue, doing homechecks, and helping dogs reach their forever homes. Our volunteers give freely of their love, time and talents to help. Quite simply, SPR could not help the number of pugs it does without its volunteers.

An especially hearty thank you to Drs. Keith and Melissa Norton who give tirelessly of their expertise, skills, time and resources.

Fantastic Foster Families
SPR foster families are a special group. They take in pugs who come from all kinds of backgrounds and sometimes from completely unknown circumstances. They give pugs a place to live while we search for their forever family. They work with pugs on obedience and house training, both of which are vital to permanent placement. They shower love and affection on scared, needy, uncertain and fragile dogs, some of whom are recovering from serious medical issues, helping them to make the transition from "rescued" to "adopted."

Fabulous Foverever Homes
Finally, there are the adoptive families. All of the individuals, couples and families in the Puget Sound area who are willing to give a rescue pug the chance to grow old in a loving home are so appreciated by all who work with SPR. Without adoptive families, SPR could not help such great numbers of pugs in need. It takes someone special to open their lives and homes to a rescue pug, especially if that pug is a diamond in the rough. Thank you for giving these special pugs a home where they are loved and cherished, every single day of their lives. It means so much to everyone who works with SPR, but means even more to the pug curled up on your couch, snoring away without a care in the world.
